Charlie Cox is back in the suit, and let’s just say the Season 2 premiere of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ does not pull its punches. Matt Murdock’s life is quite literally hanging by a thread. Just when it looks like his secret identity is about to be splashed across the morning papers, a lethal intervention completely flips the script.
The premiere throws us straight into the deep end. We open with Matt infiltrating a heavily armed cargo ship linked directly to Wilson Fisk. He barely makes it off alive before the whole thing is rigged to sink. Back on dry land, things aren't much safer. Matt and Karen Page have rekindled their romance, making things deeply personal. While it’s brilliant to see them together, sharing his life means sharing the target on his back. Karen’s past ties to vigilantes like Frank Castle already put her directly in the firing line.
Meanwhile, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk is thriving. He isn't just a mob boss anymore; he is the Mayor of New York. Fisk now commands the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, a brutal squad that operates more like his own private militia than actual police officers. They are turning the city into a warzone, meaning Matt has virtually nowhere left to retreat. Add in the fact that Matt previously took a bullet meant for Fisk, fired by Benjamin Poindexter, and the moral lines are blurrier than ever. Fisk knows Matt's secret, and he is more than ready to weaponise it.
The pressure is mounting everywhere. Kirsten McDuffie is battling a legal system that feels completely rotten, whilst Cherry’s digging into missing sailors is attracting all the wrong kind of attention.
Fisk’s grip on the city is tightening, and he is pulling new players into his orbit. Dr Heather Glenn is heavily involved, actively altering medical records to fit Fisk's political narrative. It raises massive red flags about her endgame. We also meet the mysterious Mr Charles. He casually drops the name ‘Ms De Fontaine,’ which instantly ties Fisk’s dirty work into the wider political landscape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Then you have BB Urich walking an incredibly dangerous tightrope. He is publicly backing the Mayor’s office whilst secretly trying to dismantle Fisk's empire from the inside.
Someone in New York is fighting back using the airwaves. A mystery figure wearing a Mayor Fisk mask keeps hijacking the broadcasts, tearing apart the official narrative. Are we looking at Karen Page, BB Urich, or a completely new player? Whoever it is, they are deliberately undermining Fisk's carefully crafted public image.
Noticeably absent from all this chaos is Jessica Jones. Despite featuring heavily in the promotional buildup, she doesn't show her face in the premiere. It feels like a smart move by the writers, giving the core cast room to breathe before throwing her hard-hitting energy into the mix.
Everything kicks off inside Cherry’s apartment. Matt gets cornered by the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Distracted by Cherry’s failing health and memories of past trauma, Matt drops his guard. The agents overpower him, rip off his mask, and stare directly at Matt Murdock. The game is basically up.
Out of nowhere, an unseen attacker takes down the entire squad with terrifying precision. A blade sinks into the floor right next to Matt. Etched onto the metal are two words: ‘you're welcome.’ Benjamin Poindexter, Bullseye, is back. The man who previously defined himself by trying to destroy Matt has just saved his life. Why? They both want Wilson Fisk taken down, which might explain this incredibly tense, temporary truce. But partnering with a loose cannon like Bullseye is a massive risk. Can Matt work alongside a killer without compromising his own morals?
You won't have to wait long to see how this uneasy alliance plays out. ‘Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Episode 2, titled ‘Shoot the Moon,’ drops on March 31, 2026. For viewers in India, the series is streaming on JioHotstar with new episodes dropping weekly.
