In a pioneering move set to redefine the landscape of digital entertainment in India, Kerala is all set to launch CSpace, the country's first government-owned Over-the-Top (OTT) platform. Scheduled for its debut on March 7, 2024, CSpace promises to revolutionise the way audiences consume content, marking a significant milestone in the state's journey toward digital innovation.

CSpace is managed by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) under the auspices of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala, aiming to tackle the obstacles encountered by the OTT sector concerning content curation and distribution.
With a curated panel of 60 distinguished personalities from the Kerala state such as Benyamin, Santhosh Sivan, OV Usha, Shyamaprasad, Jeo Baby, and Sunny Joseph. CSpace is committed to showcasing only content of artistic, cultural, and infotainment significance. With a transparent revenue-sharing model and pay-per-view system, our platform aims to support the film industry while providing viewers with a rewarding cinematic journey.

According to recent media updates, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is scheduled to inaugurate an OTT platform at Kairali Theatre. The launch event, set for March 7, 2024, at 9:30 am, will be presided over by Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian.
At the press conference, one of the popular film directors and Chairman of Kerala State Film Corporation (KSFDC) Shaji N Karun said “CSpace is essentially a response to the growing imbalances and multifarious challenges in the OTT sector in terms of content selection and propagation.”

CSpace OTT Platform Payment Details
The platform will function on a pay-per-view model, allowing users to buy a full-length feature film for Rs 75 and shorter content for a reduced price. Upon purchase, viewers can access the content for up to three months if left unwatched. Once viewed, the content will expire within 72 hours. A single UserID allows usage on three devices. After the launch, the app will be available for download on both the Play Store and the App Store.
An award-winning director and cinematographer, Karun said that “CSpace assures transparency and it ensures that the producers or their families will get a long-lasting income like a pension on their intellectual property. Kerala has set a model for other states through the launch of its own OTT platform”
The launch of CSpace comes at a time when the OTT landscape in India is witnessing rapid growth and evolution, with an increasing number of viewers turning to digital platforms for their entertainment needs. By introducing a government-owned initiative in this space, Kerala not only emphasise its commitment to embracing digital transformation but also sets a precedent for other states to follow suit.
