Zahan Kapoor, known for his role in ‘Faraaz’, will soon make his OTT debut in the upcoming Netflix series ‘Black Warrant’. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the series marks the filmmaker's return to long-form storytelling after successful projects like ‘Sacred Games’ and ‘CTRL’. ‘Black Warrant’ is set to offer a gripping look into the harsh realities of Tihar Jail, one of Asia's largest and most notorious prisons.

The teaser reveals Zahan Kapoor as Sunil Kumar Gupta, a young jailer who is thrust into a world of power struggles and moral dilemmas within Tihar Jail. His character, Sunil, begins his journey by attending an interview for what he believes will be a position where he can make a positive difference for the nation. Little does he know, this new job will challenge everything he knows about right and wrong.

‘Black Warrant’ promises to deliver a thrilling exploration of the morally complex world of Tihar Jail, showcasing the life of a rookie jailer. According to the series logline, “The series offers a thrilling exploration of the morally charged world of Asia’s largest prison, Tihar, through the eyes of rookie jailer Sunil Kumar Gupta as he takes on some of India’s most notorious offenders. As Sunil grapples with moral dilemmas and power struggles, the drama reveals the raw and unfiltered reality of prison life.”

‘Black Warrant’ is inspired by true events and is based on the book ‘Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer’, written by Sunil Gupta, a former Tihar Jail superintendent, and journalist-author Sunetra Choudhury. This dramatised adaptation promises to offer a unique and gritty look into the workings of the infamous prison, portraying the struggles, power dynamics, and the harsh life faced by those within.
