Back in Action: Trailer, Release Date, And More About Netflix's Upcoming Jamie Foxx-Cameron Diaz Film

Netflix is getting ready for the release of Back in Action. Having an ensemble cast led by Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, the upcoming action comedy will hit the platform on January 17, 2025. The team released a trailer for the movie recently, two months after the first trailer came. From both promotional clips, we can understand that the actors play a couple who ditch their identities as spies to settle into a peaceful family life. However, after their secret gets busted, they are sucked right back into espionage.

Back in Action Trailer: Spies-Turned-Family People-Turned Spies

The latest trailer starts with a pretty normal family outing where we see the characters of Foxx and Diaz pulling up in a petrol pump in front of an eatery. A few leather jacket-clad, ominous-looking individuals surround the couple and they do whatever it takes to stall them, including making a rough flamethrower, leaving their children shocked.

On their way back home, they tell them and us that they were CIA spies but left the organisation many years back to lead normal lives. Their kids are stunned as they didn't consider them to be this "cool." The rest of the trailer goes on to show Matt (Foxx) and Emily (Diaz) approaching Ginny (Glenn Close), whom they call "mother," and telling her that they "have been compromised."

Tight action sequences, aided by swanky background music, fill up the rest of the frames in the trailer. According to Netflix, the movie will be about:

"Fifteen years after vanishing from the CIA to start a family, elite spies Matt and Emily jump back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown."

Meanwhile, about her role, Diaz told Netflix: We’re on a mission, and we take this opportunity where people might think we’re dead, to disappear off the face of the planet and start a new life and raise our family.

Back in Action is Special For Foxx, Diaz's Fans: Here's Why

Back in Action is especially special for fans of Foxx and Diaz because it's his first movie release after his health scare in 2023 and marks the return of the There's Something About Mary actress to films after a decade.

That Diaz is breaking her sabbatical was announced in 2022 when her name was included in the cast of this Netflix action comedy. Apart from this, she will also appear in Outcome, an Apple Original Film, co-starring Keanu Reeves.

Back in Action, an action comedy, will hit Netflix on January 17, 2025.
