Hailing from Pubjan, Tanvi lost to 34-year-old Beiwen Zhang in the women's final: 21-11, 16-21, 21-10, but won many people’s hearts with her groundbreaking performance. Her achievement is admirable given her age, which reminds us of every female badminton legend India ever had who achieved a great milestone during their teenage years. Tanvi’s rise is similar to Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, who won the Philippines Open at 16 and bronze at the World Championship at 17, respectively.

Tanvi is a rising star in the field of badminton. The 16-year-old belongs to Hoshiarpur, Punjab, where she lives with her father Vikas Sharma, a superintendent in the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner (development) and her mother, Meena Sharma, who played volleyball at the DC Complex. Tanvi was introduced to badminton at a very young age by her mother. She received professional training at the famous Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad from 2016. Currently, she trains at the NCE (National Centre of Excellence) in Guwahati. She has been making headlines since the age of 14 for her achievements in the sport. She is currently ranked 66th in the world.

Tanvi has achieved remarkable milestones in her brief yet impressive career, claiming multiple awards in individual and team events. Her notable wins include the 2024 Bonn International and the 2025 Denmark Challenge. She also had runner-up finishes at the 2024 BWF Super 100 Odisha Open and the 2025 U.S. Open. In team competitions, Tanvi was part of the Indian squad that clinched gold at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships. As of June 30, 2025, her overall record stands at 51 wins and 20 losses.
