As Axiom-4 successfully launched into space at 12.01 pm IST (2.31 am Eastern Time) today (June 25, 2025), Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian astronaut in 40 years to get launched into space. As the proud moment unfolded, Group Captain Shukla scripted history by also becoming the first Indian to serve in a critical operational role at the International Space Station (ISS)

Shubhanshu Shukla Pens A Heartfelt Note

Shukla took to his Instagram to express his feelings about the mission, writing, “As we plan to leave the planet early morning of June 25, 2025, I wish to thank everyone who has been involved in this mission for their support and also to all the people back home for their blessings and love."

He also added a special note for his wife, “Special thanks to Kamna for being the wonderful partner that you are. Without you, none of this was possible, but more importantly, none of this would matter,” said Shukla. He also shared a photograph that shows him along with other crew members saying goodbye through opposite sides of a glass wall.

Who Is Kamna Shukla? Axiom 4 Mission Astronaut’s Wife

The Axiom 4 Mission Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is married to Kamna Shukla who is a dentist by profession. Their love story goes back to the school days when they were studying together in a primary school in Lucknow. “We’ve been studying together since Class 3. We started as best friends... I’ve known him as Gunjan, as Shubhanshu, the quiet, shy boy in class, who’s now become such an inspiration to so many,” Kamna told TOI. Now the childhood sweethearts are parents to a six-year-old.

Shubhanshu Shukla’s Education, Family, And Net Worth

Shubhanshu belongs to Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his schooling at City Montessori School in Aliganj. Later on, he was commissioned into the IAF in 2006. Shukla has a lucrative career as a fighter pilot with over 2,000 flying hours and more than 16 years of service. He has also cleared the UPSC NDA examination. He is the youngest of three children to his father, Shambu Dayal Shukla, a retired government officer, and his mother, Asha Shukla, a homemaker. The net worth of Shukla stands between $5 and $8 million.
