With a wider audience engaging with the content, there is more criticism. She has been called out by another creator, Niharika Jain (ima_therapissed), questioning the authenticity of her 'simple, intellectual' persona, who went on to call it overly polished and possibly curated. She argued that Pujarini's storytelling and the way she presents herself feel too structured to be organic.
Backlash followed, and the internet slammed Niharika, accusing her of classism and elitism, arguing that intelligence and expression aren't limited by background. On the other hand, Aishwarya Subramanyam (otherwarya) weighed in on what our criticism of her says about us, as an audience.
While the ongoing controversy is gaining significant attention on social media, Pujarini stepped up to share her take. She posted a video on her Instagram with the caption, "I fast-forwarded it a little to fit everything into one video, so I don’t have to make three parts out of this." She directly addressed the criticism, saying, " You don't need to be elite to have taste or opinions, and don't need to be super intellectual to understand films, literature, or culture.
Without mentioning anyone's name and in a calm tone, she said that people are being uncomfortable seeing someone from a non-urban background speak confidently and create narratives when someone doesn't fit the expectations. She concluded, mentioning, "Just start somewhere, as growth and awareness are accessible to everyone today."
