Miss Universe Beauty Pageant Rewrites History, R'Bonney Gabriel Declares No Upper Age Limit

Where people are struggling to interpret the real meaning of feminism, Miss Universe has created history yet again! The American beauty and 2022 Miss Universe beauty pageant winner R'Bonney Gabriel has announced at Tanner Fletcher's ‘Beauty Pageant’ show at the New York Fashion Week Spring 2024 that the beauty pageant has officially removed an upper limit for its contestants.

The beauty pageant that started in 1952, had an age limit for contesting between 18 to 28. In the present scenario, any woman above the age of 18 can be a part of the pageant. R'Bonney Gabriel herself stood out as she competed at the age of 28 and became the oldest Miss Universe winner ever.

The Miss Universe crown has been a desired one for many little girls and ladies out there. However, due to rigidity in beauty standards, it remained a forbidden fruit for some.

However, in the past few years, the advancements and inclusivity that the Miss Universe Organisation has brought about influential changes in their rules. The current owner of Miss Universe Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip is a transgender entrepreneur from Thailand which is already a magnificent change.

The coming Miss Universe pageant which will have its finale on 18 November in El Salvador is going to be a collection of historic moves as it will have a lot of married women and mothers as well. The update came out last year before which only single women who had never given birth were allowed to participate.

Recently, Michelle Cohn from Guatemala has become the first mother to be selected for the pageant and the first plus-size model was crowned the Miss Universe Nepal.
