Croton is a perennial evergreen shrub that features colourful variegated foliage that thieves in warm humid climates. It’s a popular houseplant but growing Croton in indoor conditions can be challenging. However, here are some of the tips that you can follow to ensure a thriving Croton plant in your house.
Planting At The Right Place
If you are planning to place the Croton plant outdoors then it’s better to plant it in loose and well-draining soil. Moreover, use a sturdy pot so that it can anchor the length of the Croton plant. On the other hand, if you are planning to place the Croton plant indoors then ensure to place it by your brightest window.
Proper Light
Croton plants need ample amounts of sunlight to thrive. They bloom best in bright indirect sunlight. Lack of sunlight will turn the leaves green.
Water Well
Croton is a tropical plant and thus it is advisable to keep it moist in summer. Croton needs about 1 inch of water per week. However, in winter you can reduce the amount of water. If the young leaves of the Croton plant start wilting then it’s a sign that it needs more water. It’s advisable to check the top inches of the soil before watering. Mist the leaves with water every day and wipe the leaves occasionally with damp clothes to remove dust.
Well-Drained Soil

Check For Temperature And Humidity
For indoor Croton plants, ensure to keep the room temperature above 60 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity at 40 to 80 per cent. The leaves of the plant will start dropping in the lack of humidity. You can run a humidifier in your home to maintain the ideal humidity condition for your plant.

Ensure Fertiliser Supply
You can supply slow-release pellets three times per growing season or you can use liquid fertiliser every month during the growing season of the Croton plant. There are a variety of fertilisers available in the market, thus it is advisable to read the package instructions before feeding your plant.
