Currently, Rupali Ganguly is ruling the Television industry with her successful show, Anupamaa. The actress has climbed the ladder of success but it hasn’t always been easy for her. She had her own share of ups and downs before making it big in the TV industry.
Struggles In Life
Rupali Ganguly has been a part of successful shows like Parvarrish - Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, and many more. In an interview with Etimes TV, the actress shared how her father's film failed at the box office which created a lot of financial problems. Therefore, she stepped in and worked as a waitress and at boutiques to support her family.
Also, she opened up about her casting couch experience which was the reason she left films and entered the TV industry.
She said, "My father was filmmaker Anil Ganguly, who made films with a lot of passion. During those days films were made with a lot of passion and in fact selling houses. Unfortunately, two three of his films tanked and we were literally on the streets. During those days I was doing films but I never took my career seriously that time. At that time in the film industry casting couch was very prevalent. I had a film background but I had promised my father that I won’t ever lose my dignity and that’s how he allowed me to become a heroine. But then I couldn’t handle how the industry worked then, especially the casting couch thing.”
Before entering the TV industry, Rupali Ganguly went to catering college and worked hard every day to make ends meet. She did hotel management from Dadar catering and continued doing plays to support her family as her father wasn’t well. Apart from this, she worked in a boutique and as a waiter where she would get Rs 180 per hour.
