  • Take equal parts of regular table salt and lemon juice. For instance, if you are dealing with a small rust stain, then you can take 1/4 cup of lemon juice and salt each.
  • Pour both the ingredients into a bowl and mix well to form a paste.
  • Then, using your fingers, spread the paste over the affected area.
  • Rub the mixture into the stain.
  • Spread the clothing piece in the sun to dry as its UV rays will help speed up the reaction.
  • Let it stay for around an hour or two. Also, check the garment after every 25-30 minutes to make sure that lemon doesn’t bleach the material.
  • Once the rust stain has dissolved, rinse off the paste from the cloth and wash it thoroughly.

Baking Soda And Laundry Detergent

This homemade hack for removing rust stain is very handy and can work wonders.

Baking Soda is known for removing all sorts of dirt and spots and laundry detergent adds to the sparkly clean results. Also, both ingredients are easily available in Indian households.

Method

  • Start by preparing the affected area by brushing off any thick and excess rust stains from the cloth. You can use a toothbrush for this purpose.
  • Then, rinse the rust stain under running cold water to moisten it, so that the mixture can work properly.
  • Now, add 3 tablespoons of baking soda to plain water and mix them both to form a paste.
  • Apply the paste generously to the affected area and let the garment soak for up to 30 minutes.
  • Next, apply your regular detergent onto the rust stain and leave it again for 30-40 minutes.
  • Place the affected cloth in your washer, and wash it as usual.
  • Take it out from the washing machine and let it air dry.
