Ramya Krishnan, who is well known as ‘Sivagami’ from Baahubali, is playing the role of Vijay Deverakonda’s mother in ‘Liger’. Here’s everything you need to know about the star.

Ramya Krishnan, the 51-year-old actor who has predominantly worked in the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films, is starring in the upcoming pan-India film Liger as Vijay Deverakonda’s mother. The actor’s net worth is approximately Rs 60 crore.

In a career spanning over 37 years, after she debuted in the 1983 Tamil film Vellai Manasu, Krishnan has done over 260 films in five languages. Some of her award-winning films include Kante Koothurne Kanu, Padayappa, Ore Kadal, Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam, Raju Maharaju, Sweety Nanna Jodi, Soggade Chinni Nayana, Aadupuliyattam, Super Deluxe, and Thaanaa Serndha Koottam, among others. She has won several awards throughout her career including multiple Nandi Awards (awarded annually by the Andhra Pradesh government for excellence in Telugu cinema), Filmfare, IIFA, and South Indian International Film Awards.

However, she rose to prominence in recent years thanks to the 2015 Indian epic action film Baahubali: The Beginning and its sequel Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, directed by SS Rajamouli. Krishnan played the role of Sivagami, who decides to raise Baahubali after her mother dies while giving birth to him. She earned accolades for the scene from where she holds Baahubali in one hand while crossing the river, eventually drowning, and where an injured Sivagami holds the baby in one hand while fighting two soldiers pursuing her.

Throughout her career, Krishnan has played many versatile roles. From loving mothers to a young modern thief, a goddess and even negative role – Krishnan has done it all.

Following the release of Liger’s trailer, fans went gaga over Krishnan’s fierce appearance in the film. It reminded the audience of Sivagami from Baahubali. Some even called her the “Lady Mafia” of the South Indian film industry.
