After Shradhha Kapoor’s exit from Saina Nehwal’s biopic, the mantle of playing the sports star’s character was handed over to Parineeti Chopra. Now Parineeti says that she is nervous about shooting for it. The Chopra girl has been training hard for the Amole Gupte directorial. Religiously hitting the gym to get her body into shape like Saina, Parineeti is also training on thecourt like her to understand her character better. No doubt it seems like an exciting role for Parineeti who has mostly done light-hearted romantic movies such as Ishaqzaade, Shuddh Desi Romance, Hasee Toh Phasee, Daawat-e-Ishq, Meri Pyaari Bindu and Namaste England. In fact, her latest outing Kesari starring Akshay Kumar is a war film that was a little different from her repertoire and it was a success at the box office plus also earned rave reviews. But it’s the first time that the actress is attempting a biopic which is making her pretty nervous.
Training To Become Saina
To get into the character of professional badminton singles player Saina Nehwal, Parineeti has revealed in an interview that she is waking up at 5 am daily for her workout session and then she goes to the badminton court to train for the role. To avoid any distractions, her training slots are booked accordingly from 6 am to 8 pm. Parineeti says that she will have to follow this regime for the next 9 months but she is very eager about doing justice to the film and to Saina. She is getting all the support from her director and the team, including distinguished players to train and condition her. A physio team is also there for her needs and Parineeti is looking at all of Saina’s matches that have been documented to imbibe the information so that she can present it perfectly on screen.
Doing The Sister Act
By doing the Saina Nehwal biopic, Parineeti will be stepping into the shoes of her cousin sister Priyanka Chopra who had done a fabulous job of playing a sportsperson as Mary Kom in the boxer’s biopic. For the role, Priyanka had to learn how to box, shoot in the icy locales of Manali and train to look as fit as the award-winning boxer. In fact, Parineeti actually has an advantage as she can take cues from her sister to give a stellar performance.
