To keep the Akhand Jyoti (Continuous Flame) lit for 9 days, the essential items required include:

  • Akhand Jyoti lamp

  • Ghee or sesame oil for use in the lamp
  • Matchsticks

Materials Needed For Kalash Sthapna

For the establishment of the Kalash, primarily a brass, copper, or clay vessel, a clay container, sacred thread (kalava), mango leaves, barley, vermilion, coconut, small red scarf, water, lamp, sesame oil or ghee, clay, and sand or soil are the main requirements.

During the Kalash establishment, begin by placing a clay pot with a little sand in the ground and filling it with clay, then add barley. Place the Kalash in this pot, filling it with water. Place 5 or 7 mango leaves on top of the Kalash, and cover a small bowl with a scarf, wrapping the coconut in it. Tie the kalava around the Kalash and create a swastika with vermilion.
