Kumkum Bhagya actor Mrunal Thakur who also starred in the award-winning sex-trafficking drama Love Sonia opened up about how she met sex workers at the famous red light district of Sonagachi in Kolkata during the shooting of her movie. She talked about how saddened she was looking at the lives of thee sex workers who call India’s biggest red light area as their home. Mrunal says that we all have many complaints regarding our lives but after meeting these sex workers, she has no complaints about her life and she is happy with whatever she has. They Lose Everything For Just Rs 100-200, Rues Mrunal
Mrunal says that when she and the crew went to meet the sex workers at Sonagachi, they wanted to talk at length about their lives but it wasn’t possible to do so in a few hours. The girls who stay there do not believe anyone easily and do not talk to outsiders. She could only befriend them after meeting them over the course of 2-3 days. She broke down after learning that they lose everything for a measly amount of Rs 100-200 and how it becomes their habit after some time.

Young Girls Are Tortured Mercilessly
Mrunal disclosed that she talked at length with the sex workers and they slowly opened up to her to reveal that young girls are tortured a lot there. At times, they have to satisfy the lust of 40 to 50 men in a day and many girls lose their mind after this. Some of them even commit suicide.
Mrunal Learnt A Lot From The Girls Of Sonagachi
Smiling no matter what the situation and making others smile around them is a talent that Mrunal says she learnt from the sex workers of Sonagachi in Kolkata. She had mishti doi and paan with them and also learnt a few typical words spoken in the Sonagachi area which she later used in her film. She had meals with them and also went for a tonga ride. During this time, she also interacted with the organisation named Apne Aap that helps out such women and ensures school education f or their kids.
