Talks that Arjun and Malaika are in relationship started doing rounds when they were seen together attending the Lakme Fashion Week and subsequently walked holding each other's hands last year during an episode of India's Got Talent. They were keeping their relationship secret but now both have become more open about it, walking together at dinner dates, film screenings and parties.

Talking to Filmfare recently, Arjun Kapoor said they decided to ‘come out’ because the media had shown dignity. He said, “We’ve come out because we feel the media has given us dignity. There’s a certain understanding the media has... they’ve been respectful, kind, honest and decent about it. That is why I felt comfortable. You recoil when there’s a certain ‘gandhagi’ that comes with the territory. When purposely people irk you by saying, writing or asking things... there hasn’t been any of that.”

Malaika Arora was previously married to Arbaaz Khan, with whom she has a teenage son, Arhaan. They parted ways in 2016 and divorced the next year.
