Why Maharashtra Bandh On Saturday, August 24, 2024?

Maharashtra Bandh is announced following the Bharat Bandh on August 21, 2024. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) declared Maharashtra Bandh on August 24, 2024. Vijay Wadettiwar, the leader of MVA will participate in the shutdown. The shutdown is announced to protest against the alleged sexual assault of two young girls at a school in Badlapur of Thane district. Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Sena UBT has highlighted the importance of women’s safety and stated it as the reason for the shutdown. He also stated that those who are against this shutdown which concerns the alleged sexual assault of two minor girls are either abnormal or saviors of the culprits.

Badlapur Sexual Assault Case

Two kindergarten young girl students were allegedly sexually assaulted and abused by cleaning staff at a school in Maharashtra’s Badlapur last week. The police arrested an attendant of the school for sexually abusing the girls. This incident created a massive outburst among the people in Badlapur and thus the Maharashtra Bandh. People took to the streets and blocked railway lines demanding strict action against the accused who is said to be the contractual sweeper of the school.

What Will Be Open And Closed On Maharashtra Bandh 2024?

There isn’t any official announcement about the closure of the essentials yet. However, the movement of public transport is likely to be affected due to Maharashtra Bandh. There is no announcement regarding the closure of the schools and banks yet. However, as a precautionary measure, students and parents are advised to remain in touch with the school authorities.
