June is celebrated as Pride Month which marks the celebration of the LGBTQI+ community. LGBTQI+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex community. Every year from June 1 to June 30, all the people who count themselves under the LGBTQI+ community celebrate their identity and sexual orientation. They acknowledge and recognise their struggles to find equality with the world. The LGBTQI members celebrate this month by organising several events across the world to spread awareness and advocate the idea of equal identity.

History Of Pride Month

Stonewall riots conducted in Stonewall Inn in Greenwich, Manhattan on June 28, 1969, led to the establishment of Pride Month in June. This month is celebrated to make people aware of their rights and choices and to advocate the idea of equality for LGBTQ+ people across the world.

Significance Of Pride Month

This month is important because it marks the beginning of a huge change within the LGBTQI+ community. Despite, a lot of celebrations and awareness LGBTQI+ people face challenges and harassment in several parts of the world. This month is an opportunity to make people aware of the existence of the LGBTQI+ community and protect their political and social rights.

Symbol Of LGBTQI+ Community

The rainbow flag symbolises the LGBTQI+ community. The flag is often recognised as the Pride Flag or LGBTQI+ flag. The flag includes horizontal stripes of red, yellow, green, blue, orange and purple colour. Each colour represents different meanings such as healing, spirit, life, sunlight, harmony and nature.
