The Indian Women's U19 Cricket team on Sunday made history by becoming the first Indian women's team to hold the ICC trophy. The Indian Women's U19 team won the inaugural ICC Women's U19 T20 World Cup at Potchefstroom with a strong seven-wicket victory over England.

England's top order was defeated by the opening pair of bowlers Titas Sadhu and Archana Devi, who reduced them to 22/4 after six overs. Sadhu completed all four of her overs without break, allowing just six runs and taking two wickets. G Trisha and Soumya Tiwari established a strong partnership that led India in the game. Despite Ryana MacDonald-Gay's strong batting wickets kept falling, and England was unable to complete their allotted number of overs. India had a target of just 69 to win when the final wicket went with 17 balls remaining.

Prior to the competition, the Indian U19 team had a run of victories and has been impressive recently. For the T 20 U19 World cup the team was led by captain Shafali Verma and vice-captain Shweta Sehrawat. The Indian women's cricket squad displayed excellent coordination throughout the match.
