Twitter blue tick was first introduced in 2009 to help users identify verified accounts of organisations, politicians, brands, companies, celebrities and others. There were no charges levied for it.

However, as Musk took over the social media platform, he wanted to monetise the blue tick. Hence, users were warned against paying every month for the verified checkmark or losing their privileges.

How To Get Verified Blue Tick On Twitter

The Twitter eligibility criteria for verification include,

• Complete: The account must have a display name and profile photo
• Active Use: The account must have been active in the past 30 days only then the individual can apply for Twittle Blue
• Security: The account must be older than 30 days before the individual apply for a subscription. It must have a verified phone number.
• Non-Deceptive: The account must not have made any changes in the profile photo, username and display name recently. It must not have any signs of being deceptive or misleading or engaging in spamming or platform manipulation.

The checkmark will automatically appear on the profile after a Twitter team has thoroughly verified all the information.
