Step 4 - Clean The Idol With Cleaning Solution

Dip a clean sponge in the solution and wring it out. Use it to clean the idol. Make sure you don't use this solution for clay idols or you will end up damaging them. For clay and paper mache idols, spray some water on a soft cloth and use it for cleaning. Remember that excess moisture can spoil the idols made of natural materials.

Step 5 - Rinse With Water

Step 6 - Dry The Idols

A lot of us skip doing this while cleaning our God idols but this can damage them in the long run. Use a clean, dry cloth to pat all the idols dry. The idols should have no moisture present on them.

Step 7 - Decorate The Idols

Lastly, it is time to decorate the idols. Use fresh flowers, garlands, and jewellery to decorate the idols. You can also make dresses for your idols at home or get them from the market. Offer your prayers and light a lamp to complete the puja ritual.

Remember that the best way to maintain the idols is by doing regular cleaning. Keep removing the dust and clean the idols weekly or monthly. For silver and brass idols that have turned black, it is a good idea to consult a professional before trying a home remedy to prevent any damage.
