Hina Khan On Her Cannes Debut: Big Designers From India Still Look Down Upon TV

If you perceive television actors differently today then you can't miss giving Hina Khan her due credit. Hina Khan who rose to fame with her first show Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has managed to make a mark globally and that's all because of her talent and hard work. Last year, Hina Khan walked the Cannes red carpet and everything changed for her.

We still can't get over her Cannes look, she looked absolutely stunning taking over the red carpet and honestly, we all were somewhere so proud of her! So, recently, Hina Khan talked to Pinkvilla about her Cannes debut and shared something really surprising, rather shocking. Read on.

On Walking The Red Carpet Confidently

I was doing my trials in Cannes and I met this guy, Greg, I met him and he suggested me what I should wear. I could see a lot of celebrities walking, it was one of the days. I asked Greg 'What do I do?', I am not very sure, I am just a television celebrity and it is my first film, I don't know how they will react. He said, Hina, 'These are all French photographers and out of 100, 80% celebrities they don't know, they just photograph them, other than global celebrities'"

Hina Khan shared that Greg suggested her wear her confidence. She said, "He told me that when you walk the red carpet, they see your confidence, they don't see the dress, they see how you are standing, how you are posing and stop you."

"When I walked, I smiled, walked slowly and they stopped me. I gave like 100 to 200 pictures on every side and it was never ending and she had to literally take me away."

Takeaway From Cannes

Talking about her takeaway from the Cannes experience, she said that television has it all but gets fewer opportunities.

Hina Khan said that after Cannes, be it any international designer, they want me to wear their stuff. She shared that these designers saw my pictures, my confidence and wanted me to wear their stuff. She further shared that in India, it is the exact opposite. She said, "I don't want to name any designer, now I am doing films, I have appearances and people can see that I can carry it but still there is a difference. Big designers in India still look down upon TV."

Many of them may think we can't carry it or think I might carry it better than anyone else or they don't want to give it because we are television celebrities.

"I understand if we are not able to carry it. They eventually want their outfit to look good but I don't understand the definition of carrying an outfit," she said. She added, "What is this definition of she will not be able to carry it or she is from television or she won't be able to manage it."

Hina Khan shared that many big designers say that we only give our outfits to Bollywood celebrities and many of them say that they don't do TV.

Well, Hina Khan has managed to change things for herself and the telly world with her hard work and we are sure she will continue to make it big in the industry.
