Actor Shah Rukh Khan was reportedly detained at the Mumbai Airport by the Customs Department on Friday, November 11, for hours over some luxury watches. According to sources, the actor had to pay ₹ 6.83 lakh in Customs Duty in order to leave the airport.
The actor was returning after attending an event in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and landed in the Terminal 3 of the Mumbai International Airport on a private jet. There were several luxury watches found in his baggage and in the luggage of the ones accompanying him while leaving the terminal.
As per media reports, Khan and his manager were allowed to leave the airport premises following the formalities by the Customs. However, some of his associates, including his bodyguard, were detained for the night for further questioning and allowed to leave around Saturday morning.
Valued around ₹ 18 lakh, packages of six expensive watches were found in the actor, his manager, and his associates’ baggage.
The actor went to attend the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2022 (SIBF) which was held at the Expo Centre in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates on Friday. He was honoured with the Global Icon of Cinema and Cultural Narrative Award 2022 at the event. He was honoured with the award for his “contribution to the cultural scene and reproductivity in the field of writing and creativity” as Khan mentioned at the event. “All of us, no matter where we live, what colour we are, what religion we follow or what songs we dance to… thrive in a culture of love, peace and compassion,” said Khan as he received the award.

On the work front, the actor is back after a four-year hiatus after his last film Zero co-starring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif did not perform well at the box office. However, 2023 is slated to be a blast for SRK fans with three releases including Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. Recently, Khan turned 57 and gifted his fans with the much-awaited teaser of Pathaan. The film is slated to have a theatrical release in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on January 25, 2023.
