IPL 2025

The IPL 2025 mega auction has made headlines with Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer emerging as the two most expensive players in the tournament's history. Pant was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants for a staggering ₹27 crore, while Iyer was picked up by the Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore. This auction, held at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, witnessed intense bidding wars, highlighting the competitive nature of franchise cricket.

Despite the excitement surrounding high-profile players, the auction also brought unexpected results. Notably, David Warner went unsold, a shocking turn of events for a player who has consistently been one of the top performers in the league. Warner had a base price of ₹2 crore but failed to attract any bids, raising questions about his future in T20 cricket.

Among overseas players, England's captain Jos Buttler fetched the highest price at ₹15.75 crore from the Gujarat Titans. A total of 84 players were auctioned off on Day 1, with 12 remaining unsold.
