Fee Per Episode
Do you know all the Mahabharat actors charged the same fee per episode? There was no salary difference as each and every character of the show was paid the same amount.
The Mahabharat actors were paid Rs 3000 per episode. The show had a total of 94 episodes.

Rs 3000 was still a big amount for the actors back when the show aired in the year 1988. However, today, actors charge whopping amounts to be on the show.
Extras Worked For Free
The majority of Mahabharat's shooting happened in the film city. The fight sequences were shot in Jaipur. In an interview, director, Ravi Chopra's wife shared that they required extras to play the role of soldiers on the show. They took locals to play soldiers. However, they didn't charge anything. She shared that the show was so popular that they didn't take money to be on the show.
She said, "We didn't hire any extras for the soldiers - except the front row ones. The locals would just come and be a part of the shoot from 6 am to 6 pm every day."
Budget Of Mahabharat
Helmed by BR Chopra, the show had a budget of Rs 6 Lakh. BR Chopra's daughter in law in an interview shared, "The budget was Rs 6 lakh per episode, but Ravi told his father that however much he tried, he couldn't bring it lower than Rs 7.5 lakh."

Mahabharat was one of the most loved shows of its time. People are loving the re-telecast of the show and it is all evident on social media.
Popular actors like Rupa Ganguly, Raj Babbar, Mukesh Khanna, Gajendra Chauhan were a part of the show. After Ramayan and Mahabharat, Shri Krishna show is soon going to make a comeback on the channel. Doordarshan recently made the announcement through their twitter handle. Sharing a video of the show, they wrote, "COMING SOON! #ShriKrishna on your favourite channel @DDNational."
