Diwali 2023: What Not To Do
- People start cleaning in the morning itself on the day of Diwali whereas this work should be done before Dhanteras.
- On the day of Diwali, minor cleaning is a different matter but do not do too much cleaning work.
- Refrain from sweeping after the evening of Diwali. Lakshmi returns after sweeping the evening.
- Keep the door of the house open the whole night of Diwali. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi visits every house on the night of Diwali.

- On the day of Diwali, avoid keeping things like slippers, shoes, dustbin etc. at the main entrance of the house.
Diwali 2023: What To Do
- It is auspicious to sweep near the door of the house on the day of Diwali. Clean the house first but sweep the door on the same day.
- It is believed that by sweeping the door on the day of Diwali, all the negativity and defects of the house are swept away.
