What Exactly Is A Lockdown?

A lockdown is a protocol taken at the time of en emergency which bars people from stepping out of their houses r wherever they are staying. A full lockdown means you just cannot step out of your house, exit the building. In this scenario, you can yes go out for essential daily needs like grocery, pharmacies, and banks. All sources of entertainment are shut down.

Our country however is not under complete lockdown but there are some restrictions that have been imposed. Travelling has been restricted with railways and civil aviation shut. All public places have been shut. Citizens above the age of 65 have been asked not to step out as their immunity level is the weakest.

You can go to the grocery store or medical store. You can go on a walk but do maintain social distancing. However, if you are working for essential services the restrictions are not the same for you.

If you do not adhere to these rules then you could be imprisoned for a while which could be a month and a fine of Rs 200 or either-or.

Going To Work

All major cities have been asked to give a Work From Home if it is a private company, to their employees. They have to be shut down or have minimal staff until the lockdown is over. Relief packages for daily wage earners have been announced by many state governments.

For emergency you can go to the hospitals and pharmacies which are operating as usual.

Transport

Transport has suffered the most as railways and civil aviation have been shut down to an extent. All passenger trains from Indian Railways have been closed till 31 March. In addition, metro services and bus services have also been affected in major cities. Delhi Metro has been completely closed.

Interstate buses have been banned. International flights are closed.

Cab Services

All cab services in major cities have been closed. That includes Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune and Bhopal.

According to PTI, necessary facilities like medical facilities, ration shops and ATMs will be open in Delhi. Police stations, cooking gas agency, media channels, water supply agency, electricity department, take away and delivery restaurants, petrol pumps, e-commerce delivery etc. will remain open.

However, OPD service in hospitals such as AIIMS has been discontinued indefinitely.
