Constitution day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is observed on November 26 every year. Officially declared in 2015, Constitution Day of India marks the adoption of the Indian Constitution on 26 November 1949. Dr BR Ambedkar, the Chairman of the Drafting Committee played a vital role in shaping the Indian constitution.

After the Government of India Act in 1935, India needed a systematic framework to solidify its status as a sovereign democratic republic. This led to the formation of the Constituent Assembly in December 1946 by Dr Rajendra Prasad. The Drafting Committee, led by Ambedkar created the Constitution, which underwent eleven sessions of deliberation over two years before its adoption on November 26, 1949.
