The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta conducted The Common Admission Test (CAT) on November 24, 2024, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. The exam paper had three sections—Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Quantitative Ability (QA/Quants). The test duration was 120 minutes, with 40 minutes time allotted for completing each section. Reportedly, the questions were a bit trickier than last year with two extra questions in the DILR section making it 68 questions up from 66 questions last year.
Students who attempted the first slot of CAT 2024 and those preparing to appear in the upcoming slots will be provided with the CAT 2024 slot 1 exam analysis, paper review, expected cutoff for MBA admissions and initial responses from students. CAT 2024 Slot 1 Exam: Difficulty Level
According to Gautam Puri, Co-Founder & MD of Career Launcher, slot 1 appeared to be a bit trickier than the CAT 2023 paper. “The overall difficulty level of this year’s exam was higher than that of the first slot of CAT 2023. The section-wise level of difficulty for the VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension) section was easy in difficulty level, the DILR (Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning) was between easy to moderate and the QA (Quantitative Ability) was moderate in difficulty level,” he added.
Ramnath Kanakadandi, Senior Course Director, T.I.M.E. said, “The only surprise in the examination was that the number of questions marginally increased to 68 (there were 66 Questions last year). This increase was done by adding two more questions to the DILR section.”
