Winter season is upon us, and it is time to take out our boots from the depths of our shoe racks. The tricky thing with boots is they need more care and maintenance than our everyday heels, ballerinas, and sandals.
Here’s how you can maintain different kinds of boots and clean them without damaging the material or losing their shine.

Suede boots are easier to maintain. Although they appear to get dirty quickly, you can still clean them with a brush, and they will shine like a new pair. The only downside of owning a pair of suede boots is they are more vulnerable to damage due to mud or rain.
A suede eraser or cleaner can be helpful in getting rid of hard stains. While cleaning, you must ensure not to use heat or warm water, it will damage the material. You can simply clean it with normal water and let the pair dry in the air.

If you own a pair of long boots, the biggest part of maintenance is to keep their shape intact. Hence, when storing these boots, you must not fold them, but keep them in the upright position or fill them with newspaper balls and lay them down in a container.
To remove dust or dirt, you can easily clean them with either a dry or wet cloth. Shoe polish of the same colour can help to retain the shine of boots. With leather boots, one must also closely watch the condition of heels and have them repaired before it becomes harder or almost impossible to walk in them.
Leather boots cannot sustain rain and splashes. Therefore, you must refrain from wearing them in places where it snows heavily or during winter rains.

Rubber boots are generally worn in the rainy season or when it snows because they are resistant to damage caused by external factors. However, many rubber boots can be a good way to amp up your winter fashion game.
They are quite easy to clean. You can simply wash them off with water, wipe them with a dry or wet piece of cloth, brush off the mud and bring back the shine by cleaning them with a mixture of detergent and water.

Nylon mesh boots are mostly preferred by adventure buffs. They keep the skin breathing and help to climb rocky terrain while maintaining balance and comfort for your feet. Most of these pairs are waterproof, so you can clean the mud and dust with a wet cloth.
You can also make a mixture of vinegar and water in a ratio of 1:2. Spray it on the synthetic part of the boots and wipe it off using a tissue or a dry cloth.
