A shocking claim by a Bengaluru influencer has left many in disbelief. Neha Biswal alleges that a ten-year-old boy groped her breast while she was filming at BTM Layout. According to reports, the police later identified the boy and launched an investigation into the incident. Neha who was on her way home from work and recording a video blog, said the boy, riding a bicycle in the opposite direction, groped her. The entire incident was captured on camera.

A visibly shaken Neha Biswal, who resides in a paying guest accommodation in Bangalore, shared her distressing experience with her over four lakh followers on Instagram and Twitter. She expressed her trauma, saying, "This has never happened to me. I feel really bad."

Biswal explained the incident, stating, "I was filming a video while walking when this boy, who was initially riding in the same direction, suddenly made a U-turn and started coming toward me." She recounted how the boy teased her by mimicking her speech before unexpectedly molesting her.

According to Biswal, the boy, who was later revealed by the police to be just 10 years old, tried to flee but was caught by locals after she raised an alarm. However, to her shock, several residents insisted she forgive him and let him go, citing his age. The boy, after being apprehended, claimed that he had lost his balance while riding and accidentally brushed past her.

"Only after I showed the video clearly showing his actions did people believe me," she said. "Many were asking me to let him go because he was just a child, but I didn't stop. I hit him. Some people supported me and beat him, but to be honest, I don't feel safe here."

Not The First Time: Time to Fight Back Against Public Harassment

This is not the first time an influencer or vlogger has been harassed in India. Recently, there have been several reports of influencers and bloggers being harassed while filming in India. One of the most disturbing incidents involved a Korean vlogger who faced harassment while recording a video. As she stood in front of a shop, sipping coconut water, two men approached her and asked to take pictures. Shockingly, one of them wrapped his hand around her neck. The unsettling moment was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media. The vlogger, visibly shaken, rushed off, saying, "I have to run away. Bye bye. Namaste."

This incident highlights the alarming reality that women, regardless of their nationality, are not safe in India. It's a grim reminder of the ongoing issue of harassment and violence women face in public spaces. For how long will we continue to endure such behaviour?
