Sushma Swaraj was one of the most respected politicians in India who served as the Minister of External Affairs of India under the Narendra Modi government between 2014 and 2019. Recently, her daughter Bansuri Swaraj has also taken a leap into politics.
She has been making headlines since she joined hands with Delhi BJP’s legal cell. Here are a few details you must know about the newest addition to the party.
Appointed to Delhi BJP’s Legal Cell

Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva recently took over the office of the full-time state president. He appointed Swaraj on Friday (March 24, 2023) as the co-convenor of the Delhi BJP’s legal department.
She is also working as the additional advocate general of Haryana while simultaneously running a private practice.
Taking it to Twitter, the newest member of the party wrote, “I am grateful to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi ji, Amit Shah ji, JP Nadda ji, B L Santhosh ji, Virendra Sachdeva ji, BJP Delhi and BJP India for giving me this opportunity to serve the party as the state co-convenor of the Bhartiya Janta Party Delhi State Legal Cell.”
The Indian Express asked the politician if she was planning to contest in polls in future or be a part of the state and general elections that will take place within a year. She replied that she was thankful to the party for giving her the opportunity to actively work for the people. She, however, would like to focus on the current position she has been appointed to and work on that. She is currently not thinking about future polls.
It also quoted BJP sources sharing that Swaraj’s appointment to the Delhi BJP’s legal cell was her first step into politics. A few people also mentioned to the Indian Express that she would be getting a ticket soon.
A party official also shared with the media, “Bansuri is a formidable arguing counsel, having represented several high-profile clients in contentious litigation across various judicial fora. Her professional portfolio has an eclectic mix of dealing with disputes involving contracts, real estate, tax (income tax on wedding gifts), international commercial arbitrations, as well as several criminal trials.”

Educational Qualifications Of Bansuri Swaraj
Born in January 1984, Bansuri was the only child of the late politician Sushma Swaraj. Her upbringing was in New Delhi. In 2007, she enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in 2007, and has an experience of more than 15 years in law.
The 39-year-old BJP politician completed her under-graduation from the University of Warwick with BA (Hons) in English Literature. Later, she went on to study Law at the BPP Law School in London and completed her Masters at St. Catherine’s College, University of Oxford.

Sushma Swaraj
Sushma Swaraj was a minister and an Indian lawyer. In 2019, she died due to a heart attack. She was the second person to complete her tenure as the Minister of External Affairs of India after former Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru.
