Yet another trailer of the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water has been dropped and it features a deeper glimpse into the oceanic world of Pandora. Netizens are all praises about the ‘stunning’ visual effects that justify the first instalment of filmmaker James Cameron’s world.
Avatar: The Way of Water is set to release in theatres on December 16, 2022.
Set 13 years after the events of the first instalment, the sequel is set to return with the story of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri's (Zoe Saldanda) family amidst the emergence of a new danger that they have to face. The film will also show the lengths they will go to and the battles they will fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure during this.
The first trailer of the film that released last month. The second trailer was dropped just two weeks ahead of its release.
The film also features Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet. The film is over three hours duration and will exceed the runtime of the first instalment.
The first instalment of the epic science fiction film, Avatar, released in 2009. Set in the mid-22nd century when humans are colonizing Pandora, Avatar followed the story of a local tribe of Na'vi – a humanoid species indigenous fighting against the same. Pandora is a lush habitable moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system and humans intend to expand the mining colony in order to mine the valuable mineral unobtanium.
Made on a budget of $237 million, the film earned $2.923 billion worldwide and became the highest grossing film of the US at the time. Avatar was nominated for nine Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director and won three including Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.

Following the release of the sequel Avatar: The Way of Water this December, the third insatlment is scheduled to release On December 20, 2024 and the subsequent sequels in December 2026 and December 2028. However, recently, the makers of the film have announced that if Avatar: The Way of Water doesn’t perform well at the box office, they will allegedly cancel the further sequels.
