Ahead of ‘Delhi Crime Season 2’, Remembering Top 5 Moments From Season 1

Delhi Crime, the Netflix crime drama series starring Shefali Shah, premiered in 2019. It went on to win the first-ever International Emmy award for India. The series is based on the aftermath of the 2012 Delhi gang rape case from the lens of the cops investigating it.

The series also stars Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain and Rajesh Tailang in pivotal roles.

Following the critical acclaim of the first season, it is now back with a second one. It follows a new crime story, and it is all set to premiere on August 26, 2022. Ahead of its release, let us remember the top five moments from its first season.

Shefali Shah Reaches Hospital For The First Time

Shah portrayed the character Vartika Chaturvedi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), who investigated the case and caught all the culprits. One of the top moments of the series was the one when Chaturvedi visits the hospital for the first time as soon as she hears of the case. When she speaks to the doctor to find out about what happened to the survivor and comes across the survivor’s parents, she stands still with eyes wide open in disbelief.

Conversation Between Shefali Shah and Rasika Dugal At The End

In this last scene of the series, Chaturvedi’s team celebrates after they catch all the accused while having ice cream on a cold Delhi night. But, Neeti Singh (played by Dugal), an IPS trainee, who worked on the case closely with Chaturvedi and the survivor stands far away as she is in no mood to celebrate. In a conversation between the two, Neeti says “I don’t feel like celebrating, I feel like saying ‘fuck this investigation’, I just want Deepika (survivor) to be okay.”

Shefali Shah Interrogating One Of The Accused

While interrogating one of the accused at the police station, Chaturvedi throws her shoe at him after hearing how they attacked and raped the survivor. There was no remorse in his eyes, and she says that he will gladly get slapped by the youngest lady officer, Singh. To which she says she doesn’t even want to touch him.

Another From The Same Interrogation

The moment when the accused is ready to narrate the crime, Chaturvedi drags a chair and sits in front of the accused, face to face, looking directly into his eyes. The posture, the look, the single frame shots make it one of the top moments of the series.

Rajesh Tailang, Shefali Shah And Another Officer In A Car

The three police officers travel back after visiting the crime scene, when there is a moment where Tailang says he doesn’t trust the survivor’s boyfriend Akash who was with her during the crime. And, Chaturvedi is looking out of the window with teary eyes. She says “they’ve destroyed her.”
