Om Raut’s Adipurush gets a new release date ahead of the criticism it faced because of the shoddy VFX work. Initially, it was to be released on January 12, 2023. The date has been shifted to June 16, 2023.

Director Om Raut took to his Instagram to share a message with people. It read, “Adipurush is not a film, but a representation of our devotion to Prabhu (God) Shri Ram and commitment towards our sanskriti (culture) and history.”
It is evident that they shifted the date because of the backlash that the film’s teaser received. Raut’s statement further clarified, “In order to give a complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film.”
It also states a famous quote from the epic Ramayana, “Raghukul reet sada chala aayi, pran jaaye par vachan na jaayi (Raghukul (Raja Raghu’s Kingdom) had people following a rule of not breaking their promise even if they had to give up their lives for it).”

According to reports, Adipurush was made on a budget of hundreds of crores. It was titled among the most expensive Indian films. However, new speculations suggest that reworking the VFX would lead to an additional expenditure of ₹80-₹100 crore.
The Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer will release in five languages - Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. It will also star Saif Ali Khan as Ravan and Sunny Singh as Laxmana.
Om Raut Asked Audience To Trust Him
Earlier, Raut had asked the audience to trust him and his team. He assured people that the January release of the film would not disappoint anyone. He said, “For us, our audience is supreme. So all the sages, our elders, whoever is telling us things, we are taking note of it.”

Raut was fascinated by the 1992 Japanese film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama. It motivated him to adapt the epic into a movie with advanced graphics. The Prabhas-starrer was written during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The shooting started in January 2021, and different actors finished the shoot at different times in 2021 only.

Plotline Of Adipurush
As the name suggests, Adipurush is based on the premise of the epic Ramayana. Prabhas and Sanon are playing Lord Ram and Goddess Sita.
It revolves around Ravan’s abduction of Sita. In search of his beloved wife, Ram along with his brother Laxmana set out on a search. They take the help of Lord Hanuman and Sugriva's army to reach and destroy Lanka, kill Ravan, and bring Sita back to Ayodhya.
