On Sunday, Indian-American teenager Aarya Walvekar was crowned Miss India USA 2022 at the pageant held in New Jersey. Walvekar is an 18-year-old teenager who represented Washington DC at the national Miss India USA pageant.
In a media interaction, Walvekar said "It has been my childhood dream to see myself on the silver screen and work in films and TV."
She took to Instagram to share the pictures from the pageant event. Along with the pictures, she wrote, "Honoured to be your Miss India DMV (dc, maryland, virginia) 2022!thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who helped me get here today❤️". See the pictures here:

Walvekar is in the senior year of school and goes to Briar Woods High School in Virginia. She also founded a Dance Studio, Euphoria Dance Studio, which provides affordable dance lessons to local children.
She is also a passionate advocate for Mental Health and Body Positivity, according to TEDx Talks. She has been creating various awareness campaigns about these issues.

Miss India USA is an annual pageant award that was started in 1980 by the India Festival Committee headed by Dharmatma Saran. In this beauty pageant, young women of Indian descent who are residents of the United States take part. The first Miss India USA pageant was won by Surita Mansukhani from Illinois.
Walvekar shared her feelings after winning the Miss India USA 2022 Title on her Instagram page. She shared,"The feelings I’m experiencing are indescribable. I have never been filled with this much gratitude in my life. It is my pleasure to announce that I, Aarya Abhijit Walvekar, am your newly crowned Miss India USA 2022. This weekend I had the honour of representing our nation's capital, Washington DC at the national Miss India USA pageant. Filled with nervousness and excitement, I entered this weekend with no idea what to expect. However, I left this weekend with a national crown, a precious pageant sisterhood, and tons of gratitude in my heart. I understand that this title is not just a crown, it is a duty, a responsibility. I plan on taking advantage of this amazing platform to spread love, positivity, and awareness. I hope you all send me your support, blessings, and love as I start my journey and take on my duties as your miss India USA 2022 🤍"
