From Aditi To Vijayalakshmi: 5 Friends From Bollywood Films We Wish Had In Real Life

Friends are an integral part of our lives and Bollywood movies are our gateway to imagination. Whenever there is a duo (or trio or squad) of friends in a Bollywood movie, we get curious to see how relatable it is.

There are several Bollywood films that have given us friendship goals over the years; from Sholay, Dil Chahta Hai, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa, to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. However, not everyone is lucky to have great friends. Here are some reel-friends from Bollywood movies we wished we had in real life.

Vijayalakshmi — Queen

We came across Vijayalakshmi (played by Lisa Haydon) in the 2013 Kangana Ranaut starrer comedy-drama, Queen. She was a stranger Rani Mehra (played by Ranaut) met in a foreign country, where she went all alone for her honeymoon. It was the first time Rani had gone out of her hometown and Vijayalakshmi made her feel right at home. Vijayalakshmi also taught Rani to live her life to the fullest and on her own terms. Vijay was a single parent who refused to give up on life and taught Rani to do the same.

Aditi – Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Kalki Koechlin played Aditi in the 2013 Hindi drama film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and gave us one of our favorite female friend duos of the decade. Aditi became a wing woman to Naina (played by Deepika Padukone), helped her become more confident, and come out of her shell. Not just Naina, but Aditi was also a true friend to Bunny (played by Ranbir Kapoor) and Avi (played by Aditya Roy Kapoor). She was generous, even when she didn’t have her generosity always reciprocated.

Kabir – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

The 2011 Hindi drama film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a film about friendships. The friendship between three friends Arjun, Kabir, and Imran (played by Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, and Farhan Akhtar respectively) is as messy, relatable, and real as it could be. However, Kabir stands out and shines brighter as he acts as the thread that holds the entire squad together.

Rancho – 3 Idiots

From helping in exams to risking his own career for his friends, Rancho (played by Aamir Khan) did it all in the 2009 Hindi comedy drama 3 Idiots. Rancho is an ideal friend to have in all situations in life. His intelligence, jugaadu attitude, helpful nature, kindness, and selflessness makes him an ideal friend.

Kamlesh – Sanju

Kamlesh (played by Vicky Kaushal) is the best friend of Sanju (played by Ranbir Kapoor) in the 2018 Hindi semi-biographical drama film Sanju directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Kamli stands by Sanju during all his up and downs, and plays an important role in the terrorism case and vouches for Sanju’s innocence even when the whole world was against him.
