According to the All India Football Federation, (AIFF) the clash between Tamil Nadu and Railways in Group A of the 28th Senior Women's National Football Championship for Rajmata Jijabai Trophy 2023-24 ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw in Kolkata on Sunday. This result has kept the two teams deadlocked in their pursuit of group dominance.

Bengal And Punjab Emerge Victorious On Matchday Three

While Tamil Nadu and Railways battled to a stalemate, Bengal and Punjab secured vital victories on matchday three of Group A. Bengal defeated Delhi 2-0, while Punjab overcame Chandigarh by the same scoreline, states the AIFF report.

Despite remaining third in the table, Bengal has emerged as the biggest gainer in the group, accumulating six points from three matches. Delhi and Punjab follow closely behind with three points each. Tamil Nadu and Railways occupy the top two spots, both having garnered seven points from their three matches. The top two teams from the group will qualify for the semi-finals.

As per the AIFF, Tamil Nadu seemed poised to take a three-point lead at the top of Group A, but a couple of late goals by Railways meant that the latter remains very much in the fight to claim pole position. The match ended in a hard-fought 2-2 draw at the AIFF National Centre of Excellence ground.
