We all know about the 'date' culture here and the vast variety can be confusing. Not just tasty, dates are also a source of fibre, potassium, iron, calcium, and magnesium, and more. To buy the fresh ones, head to Bateel shops at Burjuman Centre, Dubai City Centre, Dubai Marina Mall, Festival City, The Avenues Atlantis, Dubai Mall, Old Town, The Walk JBR, Town Centre Jumeirah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Al Naeem Mall. They have more than 20 varieties of dates, Khidri, Sokari, Madjool and Kholas. You can carry these for anyone and they are super affordable.

Persian Rugs & Carpets

Persian rugs and carpets are expensive but you get the best here. However, you have to check the quality and the authenticity if you decide to invest in it. If you want affordable ones then head to the Dubai souks. The high-quality ones are available at the National Iranian Carpets or Persian Carpet House. You can even get them customised. Get them for the ladies in the house or for your boss if you have to.

Oudh & Bakhoor

Now Oudh is synonymous to Dubai or UAE for that matter. It's an expensive fragrance oil made from agarwood resin. It is available in many forms including pure oil, mixed oil of Oudh and other floral oils like rose and jasmine, and Oudh fragrance perfume. The brands Ajmal and Ne’emah are well known for these fragrances. Get it for the ladies in the house. On the expensive side though, Oudh is an item worth investing in.

Attars or Itra

Attar is essential oil made from plant sources. They are alcohol-free and used by both men and women here. There are many variations sold so ask the vendors at the perfume souk to help you in selecting them. By the way, you can also make your own. Get hem for anyone as they are very much affordable. Get them at the Perfume Souk at Deira and the perfume shops in malls and the airport.

If you don't know, google the term Arabica coffee, which is a testament to the long tradition of coffee farming in the Middle East. It needs an acquired taste though. In addition look for copper Arabic coffee pots. They are called 'dallah', and can be also used for decorative purposes.
