Often we hang out at clubs and pubs but when you have kids, it's a different ball game altogether. Not entirely a family restaurant, but Gola Sizzlersat Connaught Place --the heart of Delhi-- is a perfect location where you can have a good time with your friends and family. It makes for a nice place when you have a lot to talk about with your folks.
The ambience of this place is rather simple but good for a small gathering. It might look cramped up when you enter but as they say, never judge a book by its cover. Known for their sizzlers, the place also offers some nice mocktails and starters. Here is what I ordered:
Fish Platter
If you like fish then this platter is your best bet. It is a mix of fish tikka, Amritsari fish, crumb fish and gin fish with to pieces each. The portion size is fine and what I like most were the fish tikka and the gin fish. Perfectly cooked and a melt in the mouth. The other fish dishes offered by Gola Sizzlers include tomato fish, fried prawns, fish malai tikka, fish fingers and more.
Mocktails
Their cocktails are extremely delicious, and I am not exaggerating here at all! I tried the Orange Chunkey and Current Affair cocktail and I have no regrets. The Orange Chunkey is a bit tangy and reminds you of maltawith a tinge of lemon. On the other hand is the Current Affair which is a mix of berry and pomegranate. Not over sweet at all, these drinks are a must try. In case you like cocktails, there are some interesting options as well. So there is something for everyone here.
Chicken Reshmi
Generally, these kebabs are supposed to be a melt in the mouth but their interpretation was slightly harder and on the salty side. But then again it all depends on how you like it. Also, I tried it without any chutney or other accompanimentsso perhaps you can try it with them. I would certainly give the mushroom a5 star over the chicken. In chicken starters the staples are a must try like chilli chicken, kali mirch chicken and more.
Prawn Sizzler
To start with, I am not a fan of sizzlers but this place has got me hooked! Perfect to the T, this sizzler has amazing quantity, crisp vegetables, and the dish remained hot till we got to the end of it. The prawns were of mid-sizebut the preparation in garlic sauce was scrumptious.

This dish is bound to blow your mind if you are brownie and ice-creamlover. Besides the smell of a sizzler like they all have everywhere, the blend was too good. Even if you have a full tummy, you should have a separate compartment for sweets in the stomach and make space for such exceptionally good desserts!
In the end, I suggest you experience this place for yourself, try out their starters and sizzlers for sure. They also have soups with the Winter season approaching, and they all sound good. In case you are wondering about regular food, don't worry they have a good main course as well! The butter chicken is really good and so is their dal. Mutton lovers too can fill their tummies with good options here.
Tips
My only suggestion would be that be a bit patient with the service. Decide what you want in one go and order it together to avoid waiting for your dishes. Do try their sizzlers and gorge on them while sipping on their mocktails.
