Muskmelon or Kharbooja is a seasonal fruit which is sweet, juicy, cooling and extremely healthy for us especially to beat the summer heat wave. It is good for weight loss, it manages hypertension, can cure kidney stones and more. Here are some tasty, easy to prepare healthy recipes that you can easily make at home.
Vegan and Gluten-Free Breakfast Bowl
Ingredients
- 1/2 muskmelon
- 8 sliced strawberries
- 1 vanilla yogurt
- 1/3 cup granola
Method
- Slice a kharbooja in half and deseed it.
- Pour in a small container of vanilla yogurt.
- Cover the yogurt with the sliced strawberries
- Sprinkle granola over the stop and then enjoy!
- Muskmelon Sorbet
Muskmelon Sorbet
Ingredients
- 4 1/2 cups fresh muskmelon and 1 medium muskmelon, cubed
- 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tbsp raw honey
- 2 tbsp water
Method
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Place the cubed kharbooja onto the baking sheet, but do leave space in between the cubes to allow for even freezing.
- Place the tray into the freezer and freeze the muskmelon overnight.
- Place the frozen muskmelon into the bowl of a food processor and pulse until the cantaloupe becomes crumbly.
- Add the lemon juice, honey, and water and pulse. You may need to add more water until the mixture becomes more fluid, but not slushy.
- You're looking for a soft sorbet texture at this point. Muskmelon is super good for you if you have diabetes, which is why we have not suggested sugar here.

Sweet & Spicy Grilled Muskmelon
Ingredients
- Super ripe muskmelon
- Smoked paprika
- Honey
Method
- Slice the muskmelon in 1/2" pieces. Sprinkle each side liberally with smoked paprika.
- Preheat grill to medium-high.
- Grill the slices 5-7 minutes per side.
- Remove from grill.
- Drizzle with honey simply because it is delicious and low in terms of calories as compared to sugar.
- If grilling other foods, grill the kharbooja last.
Muskmelon Salad Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 6 cups melon cubes
- ¼ cup chopped fresh mint
Method
- Stir honey and lemon juice together in a large bowl.
- Add melon and mint and stir to coat.
