Make Sweet Potato Cutlets For Evening Snack This Weekend

If you are looking for a healthy, easy to make evening snack then this recipe is just perfect! Sweet potatoes are so healthy and one must make them a part of their daily diet in some way or the other. If your kids don't like having sweet potatoes then this is an easy way to turn this healthy food into a snack and feed them. 

How To Make Sweet Potato Cutlet?

  • Wash sweet potato and boil them in a pressure cooker for 4 whistles. Transfer to a bowl and let them cool properly. 
  • Peel the sweet potato and keep it in the refrigerator for a few minutes. 
  • Meanwhile, finely chop onions, coriander leaves, mint leaves, cashew nuts and keep aside. 
  • Take out the sweet potatoes and transfer them to a big bowl. Using a potato masher or fork, mash the potatoes properly. You can also grate the sweet potatoes. 
  • In the bowl, now sprinkle black pepper powder, garam masala, red chilli powder, salt as per taste, cashew nuts, and mix. 
  • Next add coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilli, and flour. Mix well with your hands. 
  • When the dough is ready, make small balls using the sweet potato mixture. 
  • In a pan, add oil and heat. 
  • Deep fry sweet potato cutlets till golden and crispy. Make sure you cook the cutlets on a low flame. 
  • Take out from the pan and place on a kitchen towel so that all the extra oil is absorbed. 
  • Serve sweet potato cutlets with homemade chutney or tomato ketchup.

Ingredients

  • 2 Sweet Potatoes
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 Tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Handful Of Cashew Nuts
  • Salt As Needed
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • 2 Tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Plain Or Ragi Flour
  • Handful Of Coriander Leaves
  • Handful Of Mint Leaves
  • Oil For Deep Frying

Step

  1. Step 1:

    Boil sweet potato, peel and refrigerate for a few minutes.

  2. Step 2:

    Chop onions, mint leaves, coriander leaves and cashew nuts.

  3. Step 3:

    In a bowl, mash sweet potatoes using a masher or fork.

  4. Step 4:

    Sprinkle all the spices and add cashew nuts, coriander leaves and mint leaves.

  5. Step 5:

    Mix all the ingredients well to make a dough.

  6. Step 6:

    In a pan, add oil and deep fry sweet potato cutlets.

  7. Step 7:

    Serve hot with tomato ketchup or mint chutney.
