Oats and bananas are not the first things that pop up into your head when you are trying to get your kid to eat something. But they are packed with so many essential fatty acids, proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals that you feel puzzled as to how you can get your child to eat them. Handing them a banana everyday or getting them to eat oats porridge can be a fight but who says you can’t make a delicious oats and banana pancake that they will gobble up?

Shilpa Shetty who regularly posts fitness tips and healthy recipes on Instagram shared this oat and banana pancakes recipe with her followers. She captioned the post with insights on how you can add the yumminess of bananas and goodness of oats to your child’s lunch box. Here’s how you can easily make the pancakes.

Ingredients

  • Powdered oats: 1 cup
  • Whole wheat flour: ½ cup
  • Jaggery sugar: 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon powder: ½ teaspoon
  • Baking soda: 1 pinch
  • Salt: 1 pinch
  • Low fat yoghurt: 4 tablespoons
  • Vanilla essence: 1 teaspoon
  • One egg (vegetarians can avoid this)
  • One ripe banana, mashed
  • Handful of raisins (kishmish)
  • Handful for chopped pistachios for garnishing

Method Of Preparation

  • Mix all the ingredients and ensure that the consistency is not too runny.
  • Heat a pan and over a medium flame, pour a dollop of low fat butter in it.
  • Pour the pancake batter using ¼ cup batter for 1 pancake.
  • When one side turns golden brown, flip it to cook the other side.
  • When your pancakes are ready, top them with some honey/caramel sauce, maple syrup or chocolate sauce and chopped pistachios for garnishing.
