As the bonfires crackle and the dhol beats pulsate through the air, the festive spirit of Lohri 2025 is almost palpable! And what's a celebration without the warmth of traditional food to bring everyone together? This Lohri, ignite the flavours Punjab with this easy recipe to make Bhugga at home, shared by our expert, Chef Ishijyot Surri, Executive Chef and Founder of Mulk, Miniyaturk & SJI Gourmet.
How To Make Bhugga?
Dry roast the white sesame seeds in a pan over low-medium flame until they are light golden and aromatic. Transfer them to a plate and let them cool down. Now, heat some ghee in the pan, add the grated jaggery, and stir continuously until it melts. Once the syrup thickens but isn’t too hard, turn off the heat. Add the roasted sesame seeds, cardamom powder, and nuts to the syrup and mix thoroughly. Once the mixture is cool enough to touch, use ghee to grease your hands and start shaping the laddoos. Serve and enjoy!
