Raita is an essential part of an Indian meal. However, we usually serve boondi raita or plain raita but all this is super boring. So, if you want an interesting change in your menu, try this easy and quick recipe of cucumber raita.

  • Whisk the curd well and add green chilli paste, cumin seeds powder, sugar and salt. Add the cucumber and mix well.
  • Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Now, heat some oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida. Saute for 30minutes.
  • Pour the tempering to the curd.
  • Serve the cucumber raita chilled.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cups Grated Cucumber
  • 1 1/4 Cups Curd
  • 1 Tsp Green Chilli Paste
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds Powder
  • 1 Tsp Powdered Sugar
  • Salt
  • 1 Tbsp. Oil
  • 1/4 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 Tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp Finely Chopped Coriander

Step

  1. Step 1:

    Start by squeezing the grated cucumber and remove all the excess water. Drain the water and keep he cucumbers aside.

  2. Step 2:

    Now, whisk the curd well.

  3. Step 3:

    Add cumin seeds powder, green chilli paste, salt and sugar. Mix well.

  4. Step 4:

    Add the cucumber to the curd. Mix well.

  5. Step 5:

    Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

  6. Step 6:

    Now, heat some oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida. Saute on a medium flame for 30 minutes.

  7. Step 7:

    When the seeds start to crackle, add it to the curd.

  8. Step 8:

    Now, add some coriander and mix well.

  9. Step 9:

    Your cucumber raita is now ready to be served.
