Cardamom is a spice that belongs to the ginger family and it contains tasty, flavorful, black seeds inside.
It has a somewhat sweet flavour and a potent scent that has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years. It comes from India and is used in many savoury and sweet dishes. Cardamom aids in the treatment of digestive issues increase metabolism and encourage weight loss because it is a rich source of vital antioxidants and anti-microbial qualities. Although this spice can be used in both savoury and sweet dishes as well as in tea and coffee, it is most commonly used in Middle Eastern, South Asian, and Indian cuisine. Here are three easy cardamom recipes that are packed with antioxidants:-
1. Masala Cardamom Tea
Ingredients
- 1 fresh ginger
- 1 cup milk
- Sugar as per taste
- 1 tsp tea leaves
- 3-4 green cardamom pods
- 2-4 cloves
- 2 cinnamon
- 2-3 black peppercorns
How To Make:-
- Start with gathering the basic ingredients and the spices you want to add to your chai.
- Heat up about 1 ⅓ cup of water in a pot on medium-high heat.
- Crush spices using a mortar and pestle. Add the crushed spices to the water.
- Reduce heat to medium and bring the water to a boil.
- Now add the tea leaves and sugar as per taste.
- Add ¾ cup of milk and stir it in.
- Bring the tea to a boil. Once the tea comes to a boil. Turn off the gas and cover it with a lid for one minute.
- Serve tea with your favourite snacks.
2. Cardamom Kheer
Ingredients
- ½ cup + 1 tbsp basmati rice
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 3 tbsp pistachios
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- Sugar as per taste
- 3-4 cups of milk
- ⅔ cup heavy cream

How To Make It:-
- Add basmati rice, cardamom, cinnamon, sugar, whole milk, and heavy cream to a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Cook the mixture for 30 minutes while stirring occasionally until the rice is tender.
- Allow the mixture to cool, cover and refrigerate until cold.
- Grind together some sugar, pistachios, and dried rose petals and sprinkle over the kheer. Serve immediately.
3. Cardamom Cake
Ingredients
- 1 and a 1/2 cup flour
- 1 and a 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup oil
- 6-7 pods of cardamom

How To Make It:-
- Preheat the oven to 180° C.
- Mix the flour and baking powder in a bowl. Set apart.
- The eggs should be whisked for a few minutes, until pale, in a large basin. Make them foamy and pale.
- Add the milk, oil, sugar, and cardamom by whisking. Blend in the flour after adding it.
- Pour the batter into a greased baking tray.
- Bake until lightly browned, for 15-17 minutes.
- Let it cool. Serve it with tea or mocktails.
