Ingredients

  • 1 cup arhar dal
  • Salt To taste
  • 1/2 tsp haldi
  • 1/2 cup cut into slices raw mango
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp hing
  • 1 dry red chillies
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander

Step

  • Step 1 :

    Pressure cook the washed dal with slices of raw mango with some salt and haldi and around 3 cups of water. 2 whistles on low flame is good.

  • Step 2 :

    Mash the dal with the ladle.

  • Step 3 :

    Heat some ghee in a small pan and then add the rai, cumin seeds and hing.

  • Step 4 :

    Once the seeds start spluttering, switch off the flame and add dry red chillies and red chilli powder.

  • Step 5 :

    Pour the hot tempering in the dal.

  • Step 6 :

    Garnish with fresh coriander.

  • Step 7 :

    Serve with rice or roti.
