  • 1½ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ cup of ghee
  • ¼ cup of curd
  • 1 cup of oil
  • 2-3 saffron threads
  • ¼ teaspoon of cardamom powder.

Step

  • Step 1 :

Begin by adding all-purpose flour in a large bowl.

  • Step 2 :

Add sugar, baking soda, and cardamom powder in the bowl and mix well.

  • Step 3 :

Then add ghee, curd, and mix. Make sure to break all the lumps.

  • Step 4 :

Add ¼ cup of water and start kneading the dough.

  • Step 5 :

Once done, cover the dough with a moist cloth and let it sit for around 10-15 minutes.

  • Step 6 :

Knead the dough a little more and begin making small balls from it.

  • Step 7 :

Make a dent at the centre of every ball, using your thumb. You can also make any design of your choice on the edges of the ball.

  • Step 8 :

Place a wok on the stove on high flame, add oil, and allow it to become hot.

  • Step 9 :

Turn the flame to medium and start adding your small dough balls one by one.

  • Step 10 :

Deep fry so that they turn golden brown and crisp.

  • Step 11 :

Take them out on a plate and keep aside.

  • Step 12 :

Place another pot on the stove. Add sugar and water to make sugar syrup.

  • Step 13 :

Let it cook for around 5-8 minutes. Once the solution seems ready, coat Balushahi with sugar syrup by soaking for 5 minutes.
