"Mudblood, and Proud of It,” said Hermione Granger in The Deadly Hallows Part 1 and I say that characters will come and go but Miss Granger is etched in our hearts for the brilliance and depth she brought to the story of Harry Potter. To call her the ‘brightest witch of her age’ would be an understatement—she was the wizarding world’s MVP. She is the spine that literally carried the 7 books. She’s one of the most iconic characters written in history who can do the most difficult spells with a swish of her wand before Ron could even say “Bloody hell!” If it wasn’t for her, Hogwarts would’ve been consumed by the monster in the chamber in the second book.
Harry Potter might dominate the book covers, but to me, Hermione comes out as the real hero and for some really good reason.
Here’s Why Hermione Deserves More, At Least A Standalone Series!
Harry might be the chosen one with the scar and the prophecy, but Hermione offers a great deal to the story. She wasn’t the character written to fulfil the traditional feminine traits, instead, she was written to be highly logical and emotionally expressive, which has made her into a total badass.
Excelled In Wizardry Despite Being A Muggle Born
While others were saying “levioSA instead of leviOsa” and burning features on their face, Hermione was brewing polyjuice potion, which by the way, is considered a highly difficult magic for second year students. Despite coming from a muggle family, she was better at spells than most of the purebloods at Hogwarts. Remember, when she did a spell under her breath during Ron’s quidditch match in ‘Half-Blood Prince’ to make him win, without even having a wand in her hand in the first place? For the unversed, it's a high-level magical skill that not many wizards are able to do!
Saved Harry’s Life Throughout The Series With Her Wit And Quick Thinking
We all have heard this quote on the internet that says, “If it weren’t for Hermione, Harry would’ve died in the first book.” In fact, Hermione has been the saviour to Harry in every book. If it wasn't for Hermione's planning and quick thinking, either Harry would’ve already died or if saved by any chance, would still be looking for Horcroxes with Ron. Whether it's having a well-thought escape plan from the Burrow or distorting Harry’s face to make him unrecognisable to death eaters, Hermione's thinking was always quicker than Voldemort’s “Advada Kedavara.”
Set Up Dumbledore’s Army
Setting up Dumbledore’s Army under Umbridge’s Nose while she was turning Hogwarts into her twisted playground was Hermione’s greatest power move! Here, she wasn’t the supporting character, she was the strategist, rallying the troops, and turning students into resistance forces. Harry’s whole ‘chosen one’ gig would’ve been in the dust without her.

She Was Able To Figure Out Many Things Before Harry Did
Harry might be the chosen one but Hermione was always the first to solve the puzzles. From the discovery of Basilisk to finding out that Harry was a Horcrux, there were times when viewers would even think, “How is she doing that?” Additionally, there were so many times when Hermione was right about something but Harry wouldn’t listen. For instance:
Harry: "But they have Sirius!"
Hermione: "But what if it's a trap?"
Harry: "But they have Sirius!"
Yeah, it was a trap. And now Sirius is dead.

A Loyal Friend, Kept Secrets Despite Bellatrix’s Gruesome Torture
Out of all the bravest things Hermione has ever done (including putting the Obliviate charm on her parents), her refusal to tell Bellatrix anything whilst being tortured will always be her strongest moment. From punching Malfoy in the face to keeping the secret while under the Cruciatus Curse, Hermione outdid herself in that scene. It showed her unwavering loyalty to her friends and the true Griffindore nerve.
Stood Out As The Real Hero In Prisoner Of Azkaban
Hermione Granger in the Prisoner of Azkaban is what you call ‘on fire’. Character so determined, she gets a time-turner to attend extra classes. Not just that, she devised a well-thought-out, killer plan to go back in time and rescue Sirius and the Buckbeak without anyone knowing they were there. To me, Hermione was the real hero in the third book.
Becoming An Actual Minister For Magic
In the wizarding world, where muggle-borns are frowned upon and considered mudblood by many, Hermione became the first muggle-born to become the actual Minister For Magic. I would like to take a moment to express how iconic that is! She once said, "I'm Hoping To Do Some Good in the World,” and she did just that! From advocating house elves' rights to running the ministry, her character is Goated!
