The Jagran Film Festival (JFF) 2025 is set to return with an exciting lineup, kicking off its Delhi chapter with two major film premieres. The opening night will showcase the world premiere of Netflix Original ‘Inspector Zende’, starring Manoj Bajpayee, alongside the India premiere of the internationally acclaimed Belgian film ‘Soft Leaves’.

Inspired by real events, ‘Inspector Zende’ tells the story of Inspector Madhukar Zende and his pursuit of Karl Bhojraj, one of India’s most wanted criminals. Directed by Chinmay D Mandlekar, the film explores the high-stakes chase between a determined officer and a cunning fugitive, brought to life by Manoj Bajpayee and Jim Sarbh.
Ahead of the screening, audiences will have an opportunity to interact with the film’s cast and creators, including the director, producers, and the real-life Inspector Zende himself. This interactive segment promises to offer rare behind-the-scenes insight into one of the most gripping true crime stories adapted for the screen.

Joining the opening night is ‘Soft Leaves’, a 9-minute Dutch-language short film directed by Miwako Van Weyenberg. The story follows Yuna, an 11-year-old whose life changes when her father is hospitalised, allowing her to reconnect with her Japanese mother and stepsister. The film delicately captures themes of loss, reconciliation, and familial bonds, and is expected to leave a lasting emotional impact on Indian audiences.
